Introduction
There’s no better way to take in downtown Boise than on two wheels. The city’s compact, tree-lined core and its incredible network of paths make it a cyclist’s dream, whether you’re commuting, exploring, or just out for a leisurely weekend ride. As a local business rooted in historic downtown, we wanted to share a few of our favorite stops along the way.
Must-Visit Stops on a Downtown Ride
8th Street (Bannock to State). The vibrant heart of the downtown core, with new street trees and widened sidewalks that make it welcoming for cyclists. Park the bike and enjoy the local retail and restaurants, it’s the perfect midpoint for any ride.
The Boise Co-op Market. A community-owned marketplace known for local and organic goods, an ideal stop to grab a healthy snack or a cold drink mid-ride. They often host events and classes, too, if you want to add a cultural detour.
The Boise River Greenbelt. The crown jewel: a 25-mile tree-lined pathway with scenic river views, wildlife, and access to many of Boise’s riverside parks. It’s the backbone of the city’s cycling experience and worth a ride in any season.
A Few Tips for a Great Ride
- Bring water and a light snack, especially in Boise’s warm summer months
- A helmet and lights are non-negotiable for safety, particularly on shared paths
- Plan a loop that connects the Greenbelt to downtown so you get both the scenery and the city energy
- Take your time, downtown Boise rewards a slower pace
