How to prepare for your teeth whitening treatment.
Drinking water massively reduces sensitivity. Dehydrated nerves cause sensitivity, so drink before and after your teeth whitening appointment.
Don't brush or floss.
Don't brush or floss your teeth at least 6 hours prior to your appointment. This reduces sensitivity too. Brushing/flossing opens up your gum line and you’re more susceptible to experiencing sensitivity after your teeth whitening treatment.
Eat before your appointment.
You won’t be able to eat or drink anything other than water for 2 hours after your treatment. We also have our clients stick to a white diet for 24 hours after their teeth whitening treatment.

After you complete your whitening your teeth can brighten up to 14 shades during your 60-minute session. You will see an average improvement of 5 to 8 shade change after your treatment. Your results will depend on your current tooth shade, treatment time, and the composition of your teeth. Everyone's teeth are different and will have a natural whitening stopping point. But, your end result will be a whiter, brighter, and healthier smile!
How Long Does The Treatment Take?
Our Initial teeth whitening service is done in ONE 90 minute appointment! This treatment consists of 3, 20-minute whitening sessions, and 10 minutes with our remineralizing & desensitizing gel to help with any sensitivity. Our Smile spa is complete with massage chairs and essential oils to help our clients feel safe and comfortable. We also offer different touch-up treatment options, and products to help our clients maintain their bright smiles after their initial treatment.
How Long Will My Teeth Whitening Results Last?
We can't guarantee how long your results will last because everybody has different tooth composition, diet of colored foods and drinks, and hydration levels. These are factors in determining lasting results, but we have seen some whitening results can last as long as 6 months! However, with our after care products, and periodic office touch-up treatments, your smile could last a lifetime.
Can We Whiten Dental Work?
We are so excited to say...YES! We can whiten surface stains from ALL types of dental work back to the original color in which they were placed. We cannot guarantee they will match the rest of your new smile but have had amazing results with our past clients that have this same concern. You’ll love your new brighter smile.
Is Our Products Safe For Nursing or Pregnant Women?
Yes, because we use a food grade and dental-grade hydrogen peroxide base with organic plants and minerals, you will be just fine if you swallow a small amount. We require you to get it approved by your OBGYN first but make sure they know we are not using any chemicals or preservatives in our gel.
How Old Do I Have To Be?
We have clients of all ages from 11-73 and have seen amazing results. If you are under 18 you must have a legal guardian sign for consent to have it done. If it's a younger client, we ask that they are able to sit still for 90 minutes during their treatment. Parents and children are welcome to whiten together.
Do I Need To Make Multiple Appointments?
Your initial appointment is only 90 minutes in our office. We do three 20-minute sessions all in one appointment and you’ll leave with a brighter and healthier smile. We do offer teeth whitening products and touch up maintenance programs for any return visit to our smile spa.
What Causes Stained Teeth?
Surface stains are our specialty. Yet the question still remains - what causes stained teeth and how can I prevent this? At Idahome Smiles Organic Teeth Whitening we specialize in whitening your surface-level stains all the way down to your dentin layer with our 3-step teeth-whitening process.
Over the years and with diet playing a part your teeth can become discolored by stains on the surface or by changes inside the tooth.
There are 3 Main Causes to tooth discoloration
Extrinsic — This occurs when the outer layer of the tooth (the enamel) is stained. Coffee, wine, cola, or other drinks or foods can stain teeth. Smoking also causes extrinsic stains. Yet, a fun fact some of the biggest culprits are also broccoli, avocados, and even spinach!
Intrinsic — This is when the inner structure of the tooth (the dentin) darkens or gets a yellow tint. This can be caused by damage to the teeth by excess fluoride, antibiotics, or trauma.
And lastly... Age-related — This is a combination of extrinsic and intrinsic factors. Dentin naturally yellows over time. The enamel that covers the teeth gets thinner with age, which allows the dentin to show through. Foods and smoking also can stain teeth as people get older.
So, what now? We all have our vices; coffee, wine, and other foods. Or, maybe we are just getting older. So how, can you aid in your brightest smile?
Is Charcoal Safe to Whiten Teeth?
Charcoal is all the craze these days. From face masks to teeth brushing, and even now in foods to delight; but, is it safe? And, does it work?
While charcoal toothpaste home treatment might seem pretty harmless, it can actually do quite a bit of damage to your teeth and you could be vulnerable to many other serious oral problems down the road.
The logic behind charcoal whitening is this: charcoal is an extremely absorbent substance. This quality enables it to absorb bacteria and stains on the teeth causing the user to have whitening results.
While this might be sort of true, what it leaves out is the fact that charcoal is extremely abrasive. This rough texture is enough to actually break down the gentle enamel on your teeth, causing them to weaken your teeth over time. Literally scrubbing off the top layer of your teeth may indeed make them appear whiter, but the tradeoff is that they will subsequently be much thinner, weaker, more likely to develop cavities, or even break as these conditions worsen.
While enamel is extremely strong, simply using a regular toothbrush with too much force is enough to break it down over time, so when you add charcoal to the mix, it becomes tremendously hazardous for the teeth and the health of your gums. The idea is that you are basically taking a sandpaper sheet to your teeth and brushing off the stains along with your actual tooth fiber. As you use charcoal it also tends to get into your gums and can be known to cause a receding gum line, exposing the sensitive nerves of your teeth. If you are still considering charcoal please check what the RDA (relative dentin abrasion) number is. Generally, anything under 200 is considered “safe”.

After Whitening Care
Teeth Whitening Tips | Oral Health
Coconut Oil Pulling
This improves oral hygiene and removes toxins from the body. The practice involves swishing oil around in your mouth to remove bacteria, which can turn into plaque and can cause your teeth to look yellow.
Brush with Baking Soda
It has natural whitening properties, which is why it's a popular ingredient in commercial toothpaste. It's a mild abrasive that can help scrub away surface stains on teeth. Apply once a week.
Hydrogen peroxide is a natural bleaching agent that also kills bacteria in your mouth. Apply once a week.
Rinse With Apple Cider
Acetic acid, which is the main active ingredient in apple cider vinegar, effectively kills bacteria. The antibacterial property of vinegar is what makes it beneficial for oral health and whitening your teeth. Apply once a week.
